“It is the Big bazar for the little people,” said Anisha Ramann, co-organiser of Candy Bazar. The exhibition at Taj Vivanta, on the 27th of June was a huge success with thousands of people, mostly kids and their parents, thronging the event.
The moment I entered the hotel, all I could hear was the fusion of children’s laughter and cries, well, more of laughter and shouting. I could swear that I have never seen so many children in my entire life.
Candy Bazar is the only kids’ exclusive event in the city. Sheetal Gupta, founder and organizer of the event said, “I felt there should also be a kids’ exclusive event and exhibition which is why I started Candy Bazar three years ago where children come and buy things from a wide range of products and can also indulge in activities both fun and educational.”
The exhibition which is dedicated to children had stalls filled with kids’ dresses and apparel, toys, animated and customised furniture, cakes and cupcakes, pencil boxes, backpacks and anything else you can think of which will attract kids. And who does not love clowns? There was a clown roaming around the exhibition entertaining the kids.
Candy Bazar was held for the first time at Ashoka Hotel in 2013 but then shifted to a bigger venue, Taj Vivanta in its second edition due to the immense response and the huge crowd.
Young parents and grandparents following their kids and grandkids as they ran all around the exhibition to various stalls was the only scene to see at Candy Bazar. Anusha Kumar, a mother of Amisha, a 7-year old says laughingly, “Today is her day. Every stall we go to, I let her talk as she is the customer here, not me.”
Amrutha Yuvaraj, designer at ‘Lollipop’, an exclusive company for customised kids’ furniture said, “This is the first time we are participating at Candy Bazar and I am surprised by the enthusiasm of the kids and the excitement seen on their faces.”
Well, that was not all. The fun was doubled as the exhibition had play centres for the kids, which included trampolines, air-inflated slides and they were indulging in many activities such as face painting, nail art, poetry writing, x-box gaming and many more. The exhibition also provided a saloon to groom themselves. It was not only the kids who had a great time; even the parents had a great time as the exhibition had stalls which interested them too.
My time over there also kind of reminded me of how I was as a kid and used to pester my parents to buy me toys and clothes. I love watching kids troubling and irritating their parents until they get what they want, which is precisely why I chose to cover ‘Candy Bazar’.
