Consuming the Ordinary Differently

Day 11 – META

PerformanceDay 11 of Meta ended with musical performances by students of I and II EJP. Chris Thomas and Aqil Kallangodan were playing the guitar. Renée McLeod, Priyanka Jacob, Hemanth PS,  Timothy Jairaj and Tarun Bhalla were singing along with them.

The crowd was hooting and clapping throughout the performance. They sang six songs, accompanied by the guitarists. They sang popular numbers like  ‘Some Nights’ by FUN, ‘ I won’t give up’ by Jason Mraz, Auld Lang Syne and more, with the audience singing along.  “It was a bit of a surprise that they chose to sing Auld Lang Syne, but they worked well with it. They had good voices for acoustic instruments and they picked good songs”, said Joanna, a student of St Joseph’s College.

A few of them sang solos, but the group performances roused the most enthusiasm of the audience. “It was really nice to finally hear popular songs. I loved the group performance of Some Nights” said Mark Rassendren, another student.

They ended with the guitarists playing ‘Hotel California’ by The Eagles, and halfway through they called Ashwin Aravind, another EJP student to sing along with them. The crowd cheered him on and the evening concluded on a wonderful note.
